Instructor Spotlight ⭐
Get to know one of our awesome instructors, MELISSA BLACKSTONE!
We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of moms here at FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa, and we want you to get to know a little more about each one of them. So for November, we'll put the spotlight on Melissa Blackstone, Body Back Instructor for FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa.
“Our friendship began well before FIT4MOM. I first met Melissa 8 years ago when we lived in Springfield while my husband attended the National Defense University. Our husbands both belong to a veteran’s motorcycle chapter called U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club. We do lots of motorcycle rides and fundraiser events to help vets in our local community. Melissa and I hit it off right from the start. After having Julia and beginning my FIT4MOM franchise I asked Melissa if she’d like to join the new Body Back program as a participant – she did, she fell in love and I quickly asked her if she’d like to be on the other side and help lead moms to a healthier and happier lifestyle. With slight hesitation (she’s an introvert!) she went to training and was a pro in no time. Melissa is one tiny but OH SO FIERCE instructor. I am so fortunate to have her on my team! So now we are connected in more ways than one (fun fact – our husbands worked together at MICROSOFT for one year as well!), it’s great to have friends to lift each other up and to offer support.”

1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Steve, we have been married 20 years. My two girls, Lyndsey (24) is a nurse & Cassandra (18) is a student at Longwood University. I also have a step son, Ren, he is 33.
2. Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in NoVa?
I have lived in Virginia most of my life. I grew up in Fairfax, VA.
3. Where do you typically teach?
In the past I taught Body Back in Lorton but have recently transferred to our new Woodbridge CrossFit location.
4. Tell us your story about how/why you became an instructor for Fit4Mom LSBWK NoVa.
I was introduced to Body Back in January 2015 and couldn’t get enough. Learning more about nutrition combined with high intensity workouts pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me achieve my goals of becoming healthier and stronger. Thanks to Body Back I am now in better shape and stronger than I have ever been. I hope to encourage other women to achieve their health goals and support them in their personal journeys.
5. What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?
Seeing the transformations – not only the physical but also the mental. As the ladies get stronger physically their confidence also grows within.
6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?
I like the workouts but it’s more than that – what means so much is the acceptance, the no judgement and the friendships you develop.
7. What is one of your current wellness goals?
My current goal is to be more organized and plan healthier meals longterm.
8. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?
I have my motorcycle license. I used to have my own motorcycle and hope to own another one in the future.
Melissa, thank you so much for your dedication to Our Village! Even with all the changes in your life to include moving farther away, you still make time for our moms. You rock!
