One Woman’s Journey from ‘Dr. Google’ to FIT4MOM
As I look back on the 3.5 months I've spent at home with our new daughter, the one thing that has had the biggest impact on me has been my FIT4MOM journey. I came across FIT4MOM by complete accident and I'm so glad I did! After my first Stroller Strides class, I was hooked!
For the first few weeks of my daughter's life, I was terrified of leaving the house- I stressed about feeding her in public, got nervous about her crying while we were out and causing a scene, and just didn't have any idea of what to do with her while we were out. But since I found FIT4MOM, I have never felt more welcome and supported in my life as I now had a village of moms who I could talk to about almost anything! I no longer worried about taking my daughter out, but instead was excited to get out of the house every morning for a great workout and to hang out with my new mommy friends.
I was one of the first of my group of friends to have a baby, so while I was pregnant and after our daughter was born, I spent a lot of time relying on online chat boards and "Dr. Google" for all of my new mom concerns. I soon came to realize that those online groups were full of negativity and mom-shaming, and "Dr. Google" was making me more paranoid than I needed to be. It was such a relief to be surrounded by a group of strong, supportive women with varying experiences and advice. When I was preparing to go back to work full time, I heavily relied on the mommas of this village for moral support and words of encouragement to help me cope with the stress and anxiety I was feeling. It was not easy leaving my baby girl to go back to work, but knowing that I had a village of mommas supporting me, and some who have had the same experience of being a working mom, made it a bit easier.
FIT4MOM has not only helped me regain physical strength after having my daughter, but has helped me mentally and emotionally with all of the challenges that have come along with being a new mom. I am forever grateful for the confidence and positivity this FIT4MOM village has provided me, and for the wonderful friendships that have blossomed.

She is mom to Emmaline (5 months old) and has since returned to her job outside of the home. Megan and Emmaline still come to classes on days off and some weekends. It’s hard to juggle the new normal!
