Team Member Spotlight ⭐

Get to know our awesome team member, ANDREA DASCALESCU!

We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of moms here at FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa, and we want you to get to know a little more about each one of them. So for October, we'll put the spotlight on Andrea Dascalescu, Social Media Mom for FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa.

“Nearly two years have passed since I first met Andrea and her little one Olivia (of course she has gone and multiplied since then & has added Meadow to the mix!)! She had moved from Alexandria to Lorton and I was excited to have her join our classes to enable her to meet new moms in our area. It’s what I love the most about FIT4MOM – we forge lifelong friendships, it’s pretty darn amazing to watch it happen. And sure enough Andrea perfectly fit in and now has some pretty awesome moms to call her friends. She always has a positive outlook and nothing can hold her down. I followed her on facebook for a bit and absolutely loved her creative & witty posts. It seemed like a no brainer to ask her to run my social media campaigns, and thank goodness she said YES! So please feel free to follow us on facebook, Instagram and twitter to see her creative juices flow! Andrea, thank you for all you do in our village. What we do matters! <3”

Read on to get to know more about Andrea and her time with FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa.

1. Who are the members of your family?

My husband Dave (referred to as "The Captain" on social media), Olivia (3 years old), and Meadow (7 months).

2. Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in NoVa?

This is a trick question! I was born in Reading, PA. But my parents immediately moved to Pennsville, NJ. So technically, I'm a Jersey girl. My dad moved us back to Reading, PA where I graduated high school, went to college, and met and married my husband...all that to say, we moved to NoVa from Pennsylvania in February 2015.

3. What do you do for our FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa village?

I'm the Social Media Mom. (I help provide content for the FIT4MOM LSBWK Facebook/Instagram accounts).

4. Tell us your story about how/why you became the Social Media Mom for FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa.

I had been attending Stroller Strides faithfully with Olivia for a solid 6 months. I had just found out I was 3 months pregnant with my second daughter. After class one day, Shannon approached me to chat...but she surprised me and ask me about being a Playgroup Captain for Woodbridge. I told her I was pregnant and that it just didn't sound like something I could do faithfully. (As a recovering people pleaser and former kindergarten teacher this was something that PAINED me to admit).

Without skipping a beat, Shannon said, "That's fine. I have something else. I'm learning to ask for help. I like how your present yourself on social media. What about helping me run the franchise's Facebook account?"

I was honored. I hadn't thought formulating thoughts and photos of my daily life was an actual usable skill. But in this day and age it is! It was a no brainer. I'm on social media FAITHFULLY anyway, my creative juices were needing an outlet, AND it's a thing that would help Shannon and other moms? The answer was YES.

5. What is the BEST thing about being the Social Media Mom?

I take it to heart that our social media accounts are the first impression some moms have of who we are and what we do. But my favorite posts are the ones where we celebrate the friendships made when moms and littles are just having F U N.

6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

I love meeting new people...specifically putting them at ease. Being a parent is hard enough, so if I can help moms easily connect to who we are and help them catch a glimpse how much fun they can have with or without their babe(s)- then I'm doing my job.

7. What is one of your current wellness goals?

I'm currently in my first round of Body Back. Before Body Back, I didn't realize how much I've been starving myself. I've really made a conscious effort to pack simple healthy snacks while out and about with the babies. Eating something every 2 hours has really helped curb cravings and kept my body fueled.

8. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

I'll give you two of them! 1) I was selected by my college to be a student teaching exchange student. I lived in Plymouth, UK at the College of St. Mark & St. John teaching elementary students there my last semester. 2) I was a contestant on a game show called Let's Ask America. (No, I didn't win!)

9. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

My parenting style closely aligns with Tina Fey and what she describes in her motherly masterpiece, "A Mother's Prayer For Its Child." Read it and enjoy!

We love how your ‘creative juices’ fill our social media pages! Thank you for all that you do for our moms and our village. We can wait to see where your next 4 weeks of Body Back Transformation takes you!
