We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for November! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Diana Richardson from our Springfield village!
“I first met Diana at the beginning of May of this year. At first she was apprehensive but totally took advantage of her free trial classes before making the AWESOME decision of joining us as a monthly member. Her little girl Audriana is the cutest little thing – she is always full of smiles and it’s contagious. Diana comes to every class, she sticks through til the end. Right now she is 6 months pregnant and gives it her all. She wants to show Audriana a healthy lifestyle and so far she is definitely doing that. We are so happy to have Diana in our village. She participates in all of our playgroups in order to give her little girl social interaction and friendships for life and what is really amazing is that Diana connects with all of the other moms. We love her enthusiasm and attitude. Thank you!”

“Diana is very determined and strong. Even though she is pregnant and has a little one, she still comes to class religiously. Watching her determination is beautiful and such an inspiration to me and others who see her.”
~Amber M., Stroller Strides Instructor
We asked Diana a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Manuel, Our 17 month old daughter Audriana, Myself and our newest bun in the oven due at the end of February (soon to be a family of 4!).
2. What is/was your career?
I worked for Gaylord Hotels for 9 years (5 in Orlando Fl and the recent 4 at National Harbor) in several positions but for the past 7 years as an Event Manager for Conferences. I recently decided to leave my career and become a stay at home mom in April.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Lorton-Springfield-Burke-Woodbridge, and what has it done for you?
I joined FIT4MOM after the grand opening at Kids Choice on Mother’s Day Weekend. I had not worked out in over 3 years and after having my daughter I realized that I wanted to get back in shape and not only workout for myself but for me to stay healthy and live a fit life as an example to my daughter. It has shown me that I am stronger than I even realized. I used to hate working out and dreaded it and now I look forward to going to class each week and it gives me the energy I need daily to keep up with my active toddler.
4. What is your favorite class exercise?
Wall sits; I was never able to do them for long in the past and now because of how focused I have become, I am able to stick with them and even while pregnant and carrying extra weight.
5. What is one of your current wellness goals?
My original goal was to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight but now it is to have the healthiest pregnancy I can have by continuing to attend classes up until my due date and remain focused and dedicated to my fitness post baby #2.
6. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
How much you sacrifice and do things for your child and not even for yourself anymore. I became pregnant a month after joining Stroller Strides and in the past I would have just quit working out and used my pregnancy as an excuse to be lazy but becoming a mother has made me care more about another human being more than myself more than I could ever imagine. My love for my daughter and my unborn child gave me the motivation to continue to attend Fit4Mom classes so that I can have a healthy pregnancy and be as healthy as I can be for my kids. It is no longer about being in shape or looking skinny but more of just my health for my kids.
7. List 3 of your favorite things.
-Spending time with family
-Traveling and learning about new cultures (This includes having different foods and wines from places I travel to :)
-Watching mindless TV shows
8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
Seeing how much I impact my daughter; seeing how much she learns words, actions, etc... from me. It’s amazing seeing her personality come to life and knowing how much I am part of that and have impacted her becoming the little person she is.
9. Any advice for other moms out there?
Follow your mommy gut and enjoy each stage of your child's growth. Everyone has an opinion on what the "right" way to parent is but just do what feels right for you and your immediate family.
Diana, you are such an inspiration and amazing example to not only your two little ones (yay!) but also everyone in our village! Thank you for showing us that you can work out while pregnant- keep it up, Mama!
Check back to see who our MOM will be in December!
