Motivating MOM of the month September

We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for September! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Kelly Scheider from our Burke village!

We asked Kelly a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:

1. Who are the members of your family?

The Scheider family consists of me, my husband Chris, and our two children; Luke (2.5) and Emerson (8 months).

2. What is/was your career?

I am a Registered Nurse, but I haven’t worked since we moved to Virginia 1 year ago. I am excited to share that I will be starting a new job at INOVA Fairfax Children’s Hospital in October!!

3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Lorton-Springfield-Burke-Woodbridge-Kingstowne, and what has it done for you?

I joined 1 year ago after we moved to Virginia. FIT4MOM is an amazing program and an amazing part of my life. It not only gets me out of the house, but it keeps my kids social and it’s a great workout too! The friends I have gained are amazing women and I am so thankful this opportunity to have a village to help navigate the ups and downs of motherhood!

4. What is your favorite class exercise?

I love anything competitive or “team game”, like the “clothes pin game” or the “sprinting for cones game”.

5. What is one of your current wellness goals?

To get back into better shape. Also to burn off all the cinnamon roll/scone/donut calories :). hehe

6. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

What we are capable of. It is so much harder in so many ways than I thought to be a new mother and then again when you have two (under two), but I and many of the women in our village continue to surprise me with our strength and endurance, both physically and mentally.

7. List 3 of your favorite things.

Baking, my family, lattes

8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

There are so many, but I’d say today is high on the list. My 2 year Luke went to preschool this morning for the first time and neither he nor I cried. He was so excited for school and ran right in and started playing. Proud momma moment!

9. Any advice for other moms out there?

Get out of the house, join FIT4MOM, go to the park, join a mommy and me class, do whatever suits you but don’t stay cooped up. Go out and have fun with your kids!

Thank you for being part of Our Village, Kelly! Congratulations on going back to the profession you love but we are super excited that we’ll still get to see you, Luke and Emerson at class:)
