MOM of the month July
We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for July! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local FIT4MOM LSBWK NoVa Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Katherine Bevan from our Woodbridge village!
“Katherine is a military spouse and is constantly in motion; whether it’s actually relocating from state to state, running between her multiple jobs, or keeping up with her two very active children. It’s amazing that she regularly makes time for herself by coming to Stroller Strides. Her patience and calm demeanor are awesome; always making sure her kiddos are comfortable. It’s a pleasure to see her and her littles participate in our playgroups. Liam and Mackenzie are a joy; they've grown and changed so much in the last 18 months! Since joining at our Feburary 2016 Kids Choice grand opening in Lake Ride she hasn’t looked back. Katherine, thank you for being a part of our village and for all your hard work and dedication to ‘self’ and your family – you’re an awesome mom – keep it up!”

We asked Katherine a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
Husband Brian, son Liam (4.5 yrs), daughter Mackenzie (18 months)
2. What is/was your career?
I am an emergency physician. Currently, I have two part-time jobs and work at three different hospitals.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Lorton-Springfield-Burke-Woodbridge~Kingstowne, and what has it done for you?
I started in February of 2016, when Mackenzie was 6 weeks old. Going to classes has definitely increased my strength and endurance. It also gives me accountability-- I feel like it's harder to skip exercising when I know I have a group to meet up with.
4. What is your favorite class exercise?
I like when we go around a circle and each add a different cardio exercise. I have no idea what this is called, but it breaks up the workout.
5. What is one of your current wellness goals?
I definitely have some weight to lose, and would like to get back into running.
6. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
I like the camaraderie. You aren't alone in this. Many days there are trials and challenges, but there's always another mama who has been through it, and can offer support.
7. List 3 of your favorite things.
Coffee, Naps, Reading
8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
When we were on vacation last month, our son gave away one of his toys to a new friend that he had just met at the playground. Afterwards, he didn't miss it or want it back, he said he just wanted to make his friend happy.
9. Any advice for other moms out there?
Try to live in the moment, and take a ton of pictures!
Katherine, we love your commitment to being healthy with your crazy busy schedule! You set such a wonderful example for your kiddos and all of our moms in Our Village.
Check back to see who our MOM will be in August 2017!
