We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for January! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Candice Agustin from our Burke village!
“It has been such a joy having Candice at class. She took her very first class with me and on that day and ever since, has always pushed herself and given 100%. She has such a determination in her eyes, and all her hard work has really paid off as she gets back to her pre-baby body! She is also such a genuine, funny and respectful person - a wonderful addition to our village! The only gripe I have with Candice is that she is too humble and doesn’t give herself enough credit !”

"Candice and I have so many characteristics and traits in common. Soul sisters at heart. We both had our first child at a very young age. In doing this we pushed aside our 'young lifestyle' in order to care for another tiny human being. Not an easy task when you yourself are pretty much still a child.
I absolutely love Candice's smile, aura, and her connection to the other moms. She has so much inner strength to improve on herself physically, mentally and is such an inspiration to all moms in our village. Thank you for being you!"

We asked Candice a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Pete, Myself, Aurora(8), Anila(11months) & Prinny the cat.
2. What is/was your career?
I have been a SAHM or "homemaker" as my husband likes to call it, since Aurora started elementary school. Before that I worked in child care and development, specializing in Infant care.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM Lorton-Springfield-Burke-Woodbridge, and what has it done for you?
I have been a member of Stroller Strides since April 2016. With 35lbs lost and some amazing friends gained, I found exactly what I had been looking for: My village. Thank you all for having me!
4. What is your favorite class exercise?
None of them at first! Now that I am stronger and my endurance has increased, the more challenging the exercise-the better!
5. What is one of your current wellness goals?
Staying consistent with healthy and mindful eating. It's a DAILY battle but I'm trying.
6. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
Growing up and through adulthood I never felt like I was really good at anything. The moment I had my first child and had to care for her and love her, I knew I had found my passion. Nurturing my family is something I know I am good at.
7. List 3 of your favorite things.
· My babies
· Good music
· Can I add a 4th please?! Birthday cake! Lol
8. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
I have endless proud mommy moments - One of my favorites was sitting in the hospital after our youngest, Anila, was born and watching Aurora's eyes light up at the sight of her new sister. I am still constantly fascinated by their relationship.
9. Any advice for other moms out there?
Taking time to take care for yourself is not selfish. Take that nap; let your child scream and cry if you need to take a shower; buy that outfit in the store that would make you feel beautiful; get that pedicure you've been dying to get. Don't stretch yourself thin because you always put others first. Our children would much rather see us happy and feeling good. We are more fun to be around when our needs are met too.
Candice, you continue to amaze us with all of the progress you have made (35lbs, AWESOME!) and your continued dedication to Our Village (driving 17 miles to classes)! We can’t wait to see what you do in 2017.
