No matter what your background was before, being a mom is hard work. We all were busy and successful women before that little baby changed us into Mom. Little did I know, no matter how grand my plans and thoughts, that even something that I love, like exercise, would not be so easy to fit into my new life.
Finding Fit4Mom has been such a huge blessing in my life and I almost let my ego get the best of me and not join this amazing tribe. I am often coy about what my non mom job is- I am a personal trainer and a Captain in the Army Reserve. Fitness and exercise has always been a huge part of my life so the fact that I was struggling with it post baby really shocked me. I worked out though my entire pregnancy and just assumed I would jump back into my routine as soon as I was able. Well once Jack was here, I did want to workout, but I had a much harder time than I anticipated getting into a routine. And this is where Fit4Mom comes into my story.
I never thought I would need, let alone want to be part of a group like Fit4Mom. After the holidays, I realized I needed to change something because I wasn’t happy. I needed to exercise with more regularity and I needed more mom friends. I generally knew that Stroller Strides was a thing but that was the end of my knowledge. Thank goodness for Google and I was quickly connected with the Springfield franchise.
Signing up was most definitely a move outside my comfort zone- I had never been a fan of group exercise, I am not a joiner and am fairly shy socially, and I just wasn’t sure what I was going to think of the workout. I very quickly realized that this was an amazing group of women who are incredibly supportive of each other and the workout isn’t something to sneeze at. I was hooked after one workout and I have not looked back since. There are very few places were blowouts and burpees go side by side, and here it is a seamless union.
Finding your groove as a mom is no easy task. For me, there is no question, that Fit4Mom has not only moved me out of comfort zone, but into made me a better mom and happier person. And for that I am forever grateful.
