Hi! I’m Sheila and you may know me as your Stroller Barre/Fit4Baby instructor or you may know me as a fellow Fit4Mom village member. I want to tell you a little bit about the Body Transformation session I did through Body Back.
I began the 8-week session in January and attended Becky’s 5:30am classes on Tuesdays and Fridays with an awesome group of moms. I had been doing Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and yoga so I already had a degree of fitness, but Body Back is where I took it to a new level. It was nice to have a coach to guide me through it. I was given recipes and information about nutrition to use at home and that part really benefited my family as well. My husband, who tends to be a very “selective eater”, loved several of the meals!
Exercise really eases my anxiety, which was my personal motivation. I find workouts to be cathartic and therapeutic. As cliché as it is, it makes me feel ALIVE! Its hard not to when your blood is pumping, your heart is beating, and your breath is deep. Afterwards I feel all squeezed out like I just had a massage. It’s really nice to lie back in dimmed lights for the meditation. One of my 2018 resolutions was to meditate more. It is a great feeling to realize, “Here I am, meditating, actually following through with my goals”. You may find the workouts to be challenging at first, but just like everything else in life, once you stay at it for a while, it gets easier. Its not torture, I actually love how it feels to move my body. At the end, seeing my before and after pictures was a bit startling. I don’t think I realized just how strong I had become. I’m really proud of it and I’ve found that outer strength lends itself to inner strength, as I know what I’m capable of.
I continue to go to Body Back classes to maintain my strength and my next goal is to learn how to run properly through Run Club. I highly recommend and encourage you to do this for yourself. Lisa Druxman, the founder of Fit4Mom, says that you don’t have to be a martyr to be a good mother. It’s ok to take care of yourself too. I love this concept because I truly believe that if your needs are met, you have so much more to offer others. It’s ok to be happy and healthy!
