We are so excited to announce our MOM (Motivating Mom of the Month) for October! Each month we will take a moment to honor one of our local Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa Moms for her efforts to lead a healthy lifestyle and for her dedication to the program. This month we honor Jenny Bezos from our Burke village!
“I chose Jenny as our MOM of the month because she is unstoppable at whatever task is thrown her way. She makes motherhood look so easy. Jenny began Stroller Strides with another group back when Arwen was little. That group discontinued and she found mine at Lorton Station Town Center in August of 2014. She signed up immediately despite the long drive to and from class. She was dedicated to getting herself into a routine of fitness and health and to give herself and Arwen a circle of friends to interact with. She became pregnant with Lorelei but did not stop Stroller Strides until she was born. Since having Lorelei, Jenny decided to join our Body Back program. She had talked about it for months and finally got the courage to take the leap and she has had so much success, I call her the incredibly shrinking woman. She is healthier, leaner, happier and is such an inspiration to us all. Jenny is a great friend, listener, and she is outgoing & super fun - hence an awesome choice to add her to our Play Group Captain team. Thank you for your continued trust and participation in our programs. We love having you in our village!”
~Shannon Link (Franchise owner/instructor for Stroller Strides and Back Body)
“Jenny is an inspiration to us all! She is so dedicated to coming to class at least twice a week, even though she lives a little further away than most of us. But what I love even more than her dedication is her positivity and encouragement toward all moms. She always has such a good attitude and makes me personally feel uplifted and supported. And she just agreed to be our new playgroup captain, which I know she will be great at because she is so creative! She really is just a wonderful person, mom, and member of our village!”
~Ginger M., Stroller Strides Instructor
“Jenny is incredibly dedicated. She's one of those moms that you know is going to show up to class week after week. No excuses. Incredibly hard working and such an inspiration to her two beautiful daughters.”
~Andrea R., Stroller Strides Instructor
We asked Jenny a few questions so we can all get to know her better, and here is what she had to say:
1. Who are the members of your family?
Myself, my husband Sal, Arwen (3.5), and Lorelei (11 months). And my mother-in-law Carmen, who helps me out a ton with the girls!
2. What is/was your career?
I’ve been doing photography for ages. I started professionally in 2008 with a few weddings here and there but quickly realized I was better suited for casual family/children sessions. I managed to make photography my day job a few years back while working for Lifetouch Preschool Portraits but I quit right before Arwen was born. I’m thinking of returning in a few years if they’ll have me!
3. How long have you been a member of Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa, and what has it done for you?
I started on Shannon’s second class back in August 2014. I had been going back and forth about even attending since it’s a bit far for me but it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It started me on my grand fitness odyssey from Stroller Strides to a successful Body Back session. I’ve met a lot of wonderful moms, dads, and kids, and Arwen has made fantastic friends. It has evolved from “just something to get me out of the house” to “let’s start the day off right and get moving!”
4. What is your favorite class exercise?
Anything with the bands because they generally don’t involve jumping…
5. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
How absolutely infuriating children can be one second and then heart-meltingly adorable the next.
6. List 3 of your favorite things.
Coffee, naps, concerts!
7. What is your proudest mommy moment so far?
Just watching my two girls interact with each other (as long as no one’s grumpy!) I am so excited to watch their relationship grow. They are starting to entertain each other for longer periods which is crucial for my sanity!
8. Any advice for other moms out there?
Come to Stroller Strides even if you were up half the night, even if you need the extra coffee first, even if the kids are cranky. Talking to adults who have been there and channeling whatever energy you have into a workout always made me feel a million times better than those times I decided to stay at home and be cranky! And getting a break while the kids play with their friends is essential.
Jenny, thank you so much for your dedication to our village. It has been amazing to witness how far you have come on your wellness journey and we can’t wait to see what you do next!
Check back to see who our MOM will be in November!
