October Instructor Spotlight – Andrea Robinson
We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa, and we want you to get to know a little more about each one of them. So for October, we'll put the spotlight on Andrea Robinson, Instructor for Stroller Strides.
At the beginning of 2016 I was getting preparing to launch a new location in Burke and coincidentally I received an email from Andrea! She indicated that she used to teach Stroller Strides in Connecticut, she was a party planner and would love to teach at my Burke location. At that point I was looking for an instructor and a playgroup captain. HOW PERFECT! The stars aligned for both of us.
Before I hired her, she showed up one day for a class and I was impressed by hear confidence, her FIT4MOM passion, her positive aura, her muscles and physique – she was MOM STRONG! At that time I had no idea who she was.
After class we chatted about teaching & playgroup activities and I had no hesitation whatsoever to hire her on the spot. She took over classes on Friday’s in Burke and ran all the playgroups as well. Mom's fell in love in no time! (She brought COFFEE to every class - how is that not thoughtful and awesome!)
Andrea is an amazing role model for her THREE boys Sean, Connor and Ethan. All of them have outgrown the stroller, but she still owns her bob and sometimes they tag along. They all remember the days of being a Stroller Strides baby themselves. It’s been a blessing to have Andrea on our team. Her schedule is jam packed between school, sports and motherhood. But she still finds time once a week to lead our gorgeous mamas through an awesome Stroller Strides class. Andrea had to modify her schedule and is now at our Springfield location on Monday’s. Thank you for being a part of our team!

1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Mark, Sean-8yrs old, Connor- 7yrs old and Ethan-5yrs old
2. Where do you typically teach?
Over the summer it was Burke Lake but for the fall/winter it's going to be Springfield Town Center
3. Tell us your story about how/why you became an instructor for FIT4MOM Lorton~Springfield~Burke~Woodbridge.
My husband is in the Navy so we've moved around a bit. We've lived in Newport RI, Ledyard, CT, Aiea, Hawaii and now Vienna, VA. When we lived in CT I started taking Stroller Strides class with Stroller Strides of southeastern CT and soon thereafter became an instructor. I taught with them for 3 years until we moved to Hawaii. In Hawaii I never ended up hooking up with a Fit4Mom franchise and missed it terribly. Once we moved to Vienna and were settled I reached out to Shannon Link the owner of Fit4mom Lorton-Springfield-Burke-Woodbridge and luckily it turned out she was in need of instructors. It feels so good to be back teaching again!!
4. What is your favorite thing to teach?
I only teach Stroller Strides and during classes I love when I can find ways to make exercises fun. It's great when everyone is laughing, smiling and breathing heavy because the exercise was fun AND challenging.
5. What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?
There are so many things I love. I love being a positive influence for my boys by providing a model for a healthy way of life and showing them what it means to be a fit, strong women. I love the way I can connect with other moms and help them to achieve their fitness goals and push themselves beyond what they thought they could do. I love what an inspiration it is for me personally to see the thousands of women across the country working toward a healthy way of life with Fit4Mom.
6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?
I've taught Stroller Strides since 2010 and keep doing it even as my kids have moved past the stroller years because it is such an amazing program. I love that you are getting a great workout without dumping your kids in the gym daycare. You are engaging with your children in such a positive way and you gain the amazing support of other moms who are right there in the trenches with you. I don't think it gets better than that.
7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?
Before kids I worked as an event planner. I worked on everything from 300,000 person festivals, to trade shows and weddings.
Andrea, we are so grateful that you joined our village and can share your experiences from other franchises. You truly make our team better!
*If you’d like to take a class from Andrea, she teaches Stroller Strides on Monday, 9:15am at Springfield Town Center.
