All eyes on GINGER MALLORY!
November 14, 2016
We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of instructors and playgroup captains here at Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa, and we want you to get to know a little more about each one of them. So for November, we'll put the spotlight on Ginger Mallory, Instructor for Stroller Strides. Here's what local moms have to say about Ginger.....
"Ginger is not only an incredible instructor she is also an amazing mother! Her kind demeanor and physical strength are remarkable. Even though she totes her twins to class each week, she doesn't skip a beat during instruction! She is always right there running and planking along side us! She makes every single mama that comes to class feel special and always has encouraging words to keep us motivated! And she will lend an ear and commiserate about all the joys of motherhood! We just love you, Ginger!"
~ Jessica S. mom to Derek and Nathan (Stroller Strides Burke)
"Ginger leads class in such a calm and peaceful way but still works us hard. She likes to take us on long runs and often leaves us all in the dust with her double stroller! She's not afraid to add punching and kicking moves either. Ginger is very intentional about the exercises she plans for us and always makes sure to explain what muscles we are working. She also takes care to check our form so we can get the most out of what we are doing. She definitely inspires me to try my best!"
~Rebecca C. mom to William and Theresa (Stroller Strides Burke)
Read on to get to know more about Ginger and her time with Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa.
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband, Jay, and our kids: twins, Jay and Addelyn (Addy), almost 2 1/2 years old and Finn, 6 months old.
2. Where do you typically teach?
Our Burke locations.
3. Tell us your story about how/why you became an instructor for Fit4Mom LSBW NoVa.
I heard about the grand opening in Burke and signed up, but Shannon encouraged me to try the Springfield classes first. I took a few classes at each location and loved it. Since I am a personal trainer and used to teach group exercise classes before I had kids, after my first class I thought, “I could teach these classes!” Of course, teaching exercise classes to just adults and teaching exercise classes to adults with at least one child in a stroller are two VERY different things! But I enjoy the challenge.
4. What is your favorite thing to teach?
I love teaching exercises where we work more than one major muscle group at a time because it is more effective, more time-efficient, and we feel really awesome after completing them!
5. What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?
I love teaching someone anything they might not know in the realm of fitness, whether it’s how to do an exercise properly to get the most impact, or how to prevent an injury.
6. What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?
I love to inspire others to be fitter and I think we all inspire each other in a group setting. I love connecting with other moms and their kids - giving and receiving support.
7. What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?
I’m a twin (I have a boy twin) and I had boy/girl twins. It definitely doesn’t skip a generation!
8. Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?
We have three children under the age of 3, so things are quite busy at our house and I can’t always make it to a Mom’s Night Out or all the field trips, but we’re active and we try to get out as much as possible. We’re always open for playdates and anything I can manage with all three by myself during the day (fenced-in play areas are my jam!). :)
We love having you and your family as part of our village, Ginger! You have done an amazing job inspiring our Burke Mamas and we are so grateful you found us.
*If you’d like to take a class from Ginger, she teaches Stroller Strides on Tuesdays at 9:00am and Fridays at 9:30am at Abiding Presence in Burke.
Check back in December for our next instructor spotlight!
